![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If you have the time, play it!Įdit: Having played both Crimson Echoes as well as Flames of Eternity, it's hard to recommend one over the other. From a gameplay standpoint, there are some balancing issues here and there, and a few questionable choices plot-wise, but nothing super significant. The game attempts to connect both of them, while also adding some other fun things. I would recommend re-playing Cross if you can, and then play CE. Personally I loved Cross, but it took me until I was an adult to truly appreciate it as part of the Chrono lore. It's worth it to play if you are a big CT/CC fan. So I just wanted everyone's opinion on whether its worth the time playing crimson echoes exploring the newly created storyline? Or just stick to chrono trigger. It probably doesn't help that I didn't enjoy chrono cross much and that was "canon". I'm not sure if I should play the title though as I don't know if the story will spoil my understanding of the original title and I felt like I got good closure after the first game. ![]() I must have been living in a cave all these years but I just read up about the efforts to produce crimson echoes and I think its a real tribute to the series the fact that fans can come together with limited resources and put years into developing another playable game for the series. In the early 2000s I got a copy of Chrono Cross and managed to continue the storyline but I remember being a bit disappointed with the sequel back then. First played chrono trigger on a snes emulator in 1999/2000, I remember being blown away by the gameplay story and everything and being a big JRPG, dragonball and final fantasy fan it wasn't difficult for the series to hold a special place in my heart. ![]()
